Purity Products – Testing Links Pesticides with ADHD in Kids
This past week in the Journal Pediatrics, researchers published an article about a relationship that has been determined between exposure to pesticides and attention deficit disorder in United States children. In order to determine this correlation, kids’ urine was tested for pesticide residue, and those that had the highest levels were shown to have increased chances of developing ADHD, a disease that is associated with trouble in learning at school. It is not clear if the kids were exposed to the pesticides in environmental factors such as drinking water or air, or in the food that they eat. It was concluded that pesticides were present in the urine of 94% of the 1,139 children tested.

Professor van den Bosch of the University of California was one of the developers of the Integrated Pest Management Link use of biological control, better pest control knowledge and observation, and judicious use of chemicals only when absolutely necessary. His research often suggests that fewer or no pesticides should be used to it the goal of both open and covert attack from industry and government figures. In protest, he wrote this passionate account of the ecology, what social as “the ultimate disaster emergent: developing pesticide-resistant insects, the destruction of their natural predators and parasites, populations of new pests, downstream water…
In the past, studies have shown that making a switch or organic fruits and vegetables lowers levels of pesticide compounds in urine so much so that they are close to undetectable levels, or completely undetectable. I firmly believe that additional studies should be held that could potentially prove causality and not just correlation with pesticide levels on fruits and vegetables that will in turn push the U.S. Environmental Agency to decrease levels of pesticides that are expected to be in all food. Until then, parents should always be aware of risks that could possibly be involved when feeding their children products such as non-organic produce and non-filtered water.
Because of our concern for this issue here at Purity Products, we have established our own Organic Brothers line of Certified Organic Triple Greens and Organic Reds Formula. Our products, Reds and Triple Greens, are certified organic by the USDA and OAI, so our customers can feel confident knowing that they will not be ingesting pesticides. I love when my children drink Purity Products powered drinks because I know that the benefits these products provide are contaminant free and pure. We also provide other powdered drinks that contain several organic ingredients, even though they are not certified organic.
I for one, try to buy as much organic food as I can to make sure my kids have as little pesticide exposure as possible. Reality is we are all exposed to pesticides and chemicals on some level. Why not do what you can to lower the exposure as much as possible especially for our children who are more susceptible due to their growing bodies and relative size?
